Rental Terms for Nuuk Rental
Note: These rental terms provide an overview of the rules for renting cars from Nuuk Rental. The full rental contract, which is signed at pick-up, is more detailed and legally binding throughout the entire rental period. We recommend that you read the rental contract thoroughly.
1. Return of the rental car
- The car must be returned to the agreed drop-off location no later than 12:00 on the return day.
- The late return option (latest by 20:00) can be purchased for 200 DKK. This must be arranged and paid for in advance.
- For a late return without an agreement, a fee of 250 DKK per commenced hour will be charged.
- The car must be returned with a full tank. Missing fuel will incur a fee of 150 DKK in addition to the cost of the missing fuel.
- If the car is returned in an unusually dirty condition, a cleaning fee of 5,000 DKK will be charged.
2. Age and Driver’s License Requirements
- The renter must be at least 25 years old and have held a valid driver's license for at least 2 years.
- Any additional drivers must be registered and meet the same requirements.
3. Insurance and Deductible
- Mandatory deductible coverage of 38 DKK per day is required and limits liability to:
- 5,000 DKK for small cars.
- 15,000 DKK for larger cars, SUVs, and electric vehicles.
- The insurance does not cover damages resulting from:
- Illegal use of the car, e.g., driving in unsuitable areas such as gravel roads.
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Negligence, such as disregarding technical warnings.
- The renter is fully liable for damages resulting from illegal use or gross negligence.

4. Fuel and Cleaning
- The car is delivered with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank.
- Using the wrong fuel type results in full financial responsibility for repairs.
- Smoking in the car is prohibited and will incur a cleaning fee of 5,000 DKK.
5. Driving and Use
- Driving in unsuitable areas, such as gravel roads, winding mountain roads, or rough terrain, is prohibited.
- Violation of these rules may result in the loss of insurance coverage and full financial responsibility.
- Transporting animals, hunting equipment, or fish is not allowed and may incur additional fees.
6. Damage Reporting
- The renter must immediately report any damages to Nuuk Rental.
- A damage report must be submitted within 7 days from the occurrence of the damage or the end of the rental period.
- Failure to report may result in full financial liability for the damages.
7. Additional Services
The following can be purchased:
- Glass insurance: 15 DKK per day.
- Roadside Assistance Plus: 18 DKK per day.
- Additional driver: 250 DKK per rental period.
- Interior and tire protection: 26 DKK per day.
- Child safety Seat: 28 DKK Per Day
8. Cancellation and Changes
- Free cancellation is possible up to 24 hours before the start of the rental period.
- Late cancellation incurs a fee equivalent to one day's rental price.
- Changes to dates or car type depend on availability and may incur additional fees.
9. Liability and Exclusions
- The renter is fully liable for damages in the event of:
- Driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other intoxicants.
- Leaving the car unattended or with the engine running.
- Use of the car for illegal purposes, such as private taxi services or transportation of hazardous goods.

10. Personal Belongings
- The renter must remove all personal belongings from the car upon return.
- Any items left behind will be disposed of after 7 days unless otherwise agreed.
11. Important Information Before Pick-up
- The renter must sign a rental agreement at pick-up., which is more detailed and binding throughout the rental period.
- The rental contract includes all relevant rules, rights, and obligations.
- Upon pick-up, the renter will receive an overview of any existing damages, which must be approved.
- The renter must present a valid driver's license and a payment method at pick-up.
12. Involvement of Authorities and Reckless Driving
- If the police or any other public authority determine that the vehicle has been used for illegal purposes, the vehicle may be confiscated without prior notice.
- In such cases, the renter is not entitled to a replacement vehicle or financial compensation.
- Any costs associated with the transport, seizure, or confiscation of the vehicle will be invoiced to the renter.
- The renter is responsible for all costs if the vehicle is seized as a result of:

By signing, the renter declares that neither the renter nor any registered additional drivers have previously engaged in reckless driving or gross violations of traffic laws.
13. Compliance with Traffic Laws and Other Applicable Regulations
The renter and all registered drivers are obligated to comply with the following laws and regulations:
- Greenland's Traffic Act (Given Act No. 832 of December 18, 1991, as amended by Act No. 497 of June 17, 2008).
- Local traffic regulations and instructions from the police or other authorities.
- Environmental regulations and prohibition on driving in protected natural areas.
- Use of the car for illegal purposes, such as private taxi services or the transportation of hazardous goods, is prohibited.
Violations of traffic laws or regulations may result in:
- Immediate termination of the rental agreement.
- Liability for all fines, fees, and charges imposed on the vehicle.
- Administrative fee of 375 DKK for handling legal violations or the payment of fines.
By signing, the renter declares that they have understood and accepted the responsibility to comply with all applicable laws.
14. Legal Matters
- The rental terms are governed by Greenlandic law, and any disputes will be resolved by Greenlandic courts.
